MAF FASHION

I was with MAF Fashion from 2009 - 2013. I had the most amazing team, toughest turnaround, amazing stores, amazing time. Some of the best years of my career. People ask me how I turn businesses around, how do I drive double digit profit, how do I increase businesses 150%, I have MBA students want to come and study the success. My answer is in this MAF video that all of the teams put together for me when I left. It is the journey of the time we spent together and the change we made. I was empowered and had the autonomy to effect and touch every single individual in the business. Those that were a part of this remember it well. I made sure that I was available to my store teams, at every store opening, at every event, constantly available to them and supporting them. Social responsibility was a big part of my legacy at MAF, I launched and drove the CSR initiative across MAF Ventures. The work that we did changed so many peoples lives. I am very proud of that achievement.I am still not able to go into the MAF stores or meet my teams as they become too emotional. Each year we would do a big incentive scheme in the last quarter, to drive the sales and finish year end with a bang. I would gather my leadership team, some mid management and store teams and put together a theme based on a famous song which would then include videos, posters, T shirts, all sorts of crazy collateral that we would then tour across the regions, personally delivering the scheme to the teams motivating them to succeed. Each year we would double our sales and each year we would pay out double salaries. This was remarkable, we changed people’s lives.

I wanted to drive the message to the business that whilst we worked incredibly hard we also had fun, that we weren't afraid to make fools of ourselves and ultimately build engagement and drive success. The “We will rock you” part of this video shows one of the incentive schemes that we launched. It was a great success, store teams, doubled, tripled and quadrupled their salaries, it was crazy. MAF Fashion hit every stretched number and then some. We rocked.

I designed one of the most exciting company newsletters at MAF Fashion, I wanted to make sure that the 500 people across the 6 regions we worked in all knew exactly what we were doing all the time, to acknowledge the teams for their hard work, to cascade best practice, celebrate the wins and most important to stay connected to them, I am a hands on leader whose priority is to emotionally engage my teams. I am sharing with you a few of the newsletters we published and which I am very proud of.
